Diversity & Inclusion

Concord Hill School is committed to creating an equitable and nurturing learning environment where all children feel they belong. For this reason, we are grounded in the anti-bias approach to early childhood education. The goals of the anti-bias approach encourage children to understand their own identities, the diversity of others’ identities, and the ways in which they can take age-appropriate action for fairness and justice.

The anti-bias approach is reflected in our teaching practice at all grade levels. In the classroom, our faculty use age-appropriate materials and engaging methods such as play, role play, literature, and class discussions to support children in their development. Our faculty regularly engages with anti-bias principles in professional learning groups. We also offer a variety of programs to support families in this work.

Recognizing the immense value of growing up in a diverse community, our curriculum and activities celebrate various identities—including heritage, ethnicity, family structure, gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, and socio-economic background. This commitment to embracing and valuing differences aligns with our core value of care, as it reflects our dedication to supporting each child’s unique identity and nurturing their growth. By fostering an environment where diversity is celebrated and respected, we prepare students to thrive in a multicultural world, building a wiser, more informed, and stronger community.
